Reconstitution Instructions
Standard Guideline for a 1,500 mg Vial:
-
Preparation: Work on a clean, disinfected surface. Perform thorough hand hygiene and gather all materials: Glutathione vial, Bacteriostatic Water vial, sterile syringe (3-5 mL recommended), sterile needle (21-23 gauge), and alcohol swabs.
-
Inspection: Visually inspect the Glutathione powder. It should be a white, lyophilized cake or powder. Do not use if discolored or if the vial seal is compromised.
-
Aseptic Technique:
-
Swab the rubber stoppers of both the Glutathione and Bacteriostatic Water vials with an alcohol swab and allow to air dry.
-
Draw 3 mL of Bacteriostatic Water into the sterile syringe. (Note: This yields a standard concentration of 500 mg/mL. Physicians may prescribe alternative volumes to achieve different concentrations.)
-
Insert the needle into the Glutathione vial and gently inject the diluent down the side of the vial to minimize foaming.
-
Gently swirl the vial until the powder is completely dissolved. DO NOT SHAKE VIGOROUSLY. The resulting solution should be clear and colorless.
-
If not used immediately, follow storage instructions provided by your pharmacist or physician. Stability of the reconstituted solution is limited.
